BBC Language Sites

Adri recommended the BBC Spanish website:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/
She uses a mystery video mini series entitled "Mi Vida Loca". The best feature of this website is that students can interact and become part of the story. Here is the link:

Similar stories are also available in German and French:

Let me know which features are the most useful!

You and your country

Marylene's idea for a class presentation: Students have to bring 10 pictures about themselves and their countries. They have to introduce their home country to the class with the aid of these images. Great way to start a course.

Vocabulary learning with Quizlet

A great tool for vocabulary learning is Quizlet. First, please click on this link below and try the different options (spelling with audio feature!, the games scatter and space race, test etc.):

The main idea is that you create a vocabulary list and post it on Moodle. Students can practice at home and then you can even print a quiz from the website for them. It is great to improve spelling and vocabulary learning.

School tour in the target language

Many of us have hands-on activities in the school:
1. Christiane walks around with her students and practices prepositions while talking about the school
2. Tami created a video about the school in Spanish
3. Many of us used the school's ground floor plan and asked students to label locations in the target language

Getting around in Budapest

Marita uses a good number of activities that focus on getting around in Budapest.
1. Students are asked to describe the city.
2. Students speak and write about how they get to school or how they parents commute to work.
3. Students are asked to observe the city and write about what they see in Budapest.

Course objectives in the target language

Jeff discusses the course objectives in Spanish. Using a scaffolding approach, first he introduces the goals in simple statements. After complicating the language, he uses gaps and his students will have to guess the missing items. E.g. By the end of class you will be able to __________ directions in Spanish. (give)

Colorful grammar

Jeff uses colors to indicated the different parts of speech. Use orange for infinitives, green for the conjugated verb. Blue for masculine nouns, read for feminine nouns... Great for visual learners!
